    Bryce Ernest Taylor

    Bryce Ernest Taylor

Bryce Ernest Taylor delights audiences with his talent, energy, and insight. This artist, musician, psychologist, lover of life, gives testament to the enduring excitement and mystery of living in this beautiful, yet sometimes troubled, world. This is certainly reflected in his debut national release, “Man with the Muse”, ranked in both the Folk Alliance International and Roots Music Charts.

While he began singing, playing guitar, and writing songs at an early age, the seeds of his passion remained mostly below the surface for years. Perhaps fed by the experiences of love, marriage, fatherhood, and helping others change, these seeds have grown as Bryce has discovered more fully his passion for songwriting and sharing his music with others. While performing at festivals, coffee shops, and bars in Texas, South Carolina, and Indiana, he realized music needed to be closer to the center of his life.

Now, true to himself as an artist, living among the rolling hills and flowing streams of Kentucky, Bryce is intentional about communicating and connecting with others through music, and is truly cultivating this musical garden with audiences large and small, near and far away.

    Voice In The Mountains

    PASSION FOR MUSIC + COMMUNITY

It is evident that East Kentucky is a region rich with musical talent. What is less evident is how those artists came to be. Born in a region that encompasses some of the nation's most impoverished counties, East Kentuckians are no stranger to struggle and conflict. What sets us apart is how we have chosen to express and advocate for a better quality of life that produces the vast amount of singer-songwriters in the area.

Those who grace our stages are more than entertainers; they are the voices of the Appalachian Renaissance. As the children of the coal fields, our richly mixed heritages and love of land and neighbor have produced a new vision for the the future of Appalachia; one of unity, security and the freedom to be true to ourselves.

Music in East Kentucky is more than entertainment, it's our podium for change, for advocating for ourselves and our neighbors, and how we pass down our most meaningful stories of who we are and where we come from.

This is the purpose of Mewz. Connecting those people with resources across the state, while capturing the process and results of those relationships as they blossom into events, podcasts, festivals, and communities.

Mewz began on terrestrial radio (radio that isn't online) in 2018 at WSGS in Hazard Kentucky. Our purpose then, as it is now, is to provide a platform for local creators, regardless of finances or social status, to the artists that genuinely represent Appalachia.

Mewz has evolved along with the needs of the artists and the music scene. In 2023, we became an LLC, with our mission focused on providing promotional support to small businesses and creators who are the foundation of our communities. Giving both the platform to be heard, seen, and supported.

    THE FESTIVAL

The concept for a festival to celebrate Mewz and our music family was developed two years ago, ahead of the devastating floods in EKY in the summer of 2022. Our original venue for the festival was damaged by the water and we were forced to cancel.

Year two: Mewz rebooted the festival idea. One month before our event, our anticipated location was closed due to infrastructure concerns. Understandable, but disappointing.

    1st Festival of the Mewz

In 2024, Mewz refused to give up. The fans and the artists want a festival, and so do we. The persistence and stubbornness pays off. Jeff and Robyn Farthing invited me to one of their events back in 2022 at Bash on the Branch event space. I fell in love with everything about the scene, the people, the music, and the location; a real family atmosphere. This year, after much mutual support of one another's projects, Jeff and Robyn invited us to host our first event at their venue. Grateful doesn't do justice to how Mewz feels for their generosity and support of the local music scene.

This year's event is in a well established, beautiful location on Red Lick Road in Irvine Kentucky.

It's been a long time coming, but we are proud to announce the 1st Festival of the Mewz.

    Join us.
